Edgar Okerson Murphy (September 16, 1878 – May 4, 1959) was an American Republican Party politician, who served as Mayor of Farmingdale, New Jersey and as a member of the Board of Chosen Freeholders for Monmouth County, New Jersey.

Murphy was born on September 16, 1878 in the New Egypt section of Plumsted Township, New Jersey, and moved to Farmingdale in 1907.〔Myers, William Starr, ed. He was born in New Egypt, Ocean County, September 16, 1878, a son of John and Rachel (Oakerson) Murphy, the latter born in Monmouth County, while the father was born in New Egypt, where he engaged in the plumbing business for many years."〕 After four years working in sales, he entered the banking business. He was a founder of the First National Bank of Farmingdale, and was a director of the Freehold Trust Company.〔Obituary, ''Red Bank Register'', May 7, 1959〕
He served as President of the Farmingdale Board of Education, and was mayor of Farmingdale for forty years, between 1914 and 1954.
Murphy was elected to the Board of Chosen Freeholders in the 1936 general election, and served through 1947. Edgar O. Murphy was chosen as Director of the Board of Chosen Freeholders in November 1942 after the death of Director Joseph Mayer, and continued in that post through 1947.〔Minutes, Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders〕
After leaving the Board, Murphy served four years as County Treasurer. He died on May 4, 1959 at Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.〔
